History Made! Red Oak Captures First-Ever Betty Hefflin Invite Team Title in Thrilling Tiebreaker
The Red Oak Lady Tigers etched their names in program history on Tuesday, claiming their first-ever team title at the prestigious Betty Hefflin Invite in Atlantic. The Tigers battled through a competitive field of 13 teams and 66 individual golfers, carding a team score of 365, matching conference rival Carroll Kuemper. In a dramatic finish, Red Oak was declared the champion after the tiebreaker criteria went down to the fifth individual score, securing the landmark victory.
Leading the charge for the Tigers was senior Brynn Knaus, who finished strong in third place with an impressive round of 80. Senior Addey Lydon contributed a 90, placing 11th overall. Junior Emily Sebeniecher shot a 96, while senior Riley Burke celebrated a significant personal achievement by breaking 100 for the first time, carding a 99. Junior Nellie Blaine’s score of 104 proved to be the pivotal tiebreaker, securing the team championship. Junior Ellison Johnson finished the day with a 111.
The Lady Tigers will look to carry this momentum into their final regular-season home meet this Friday against Harlan and Shenandoah, followed by the Hawkeye Ten Conference Tournament at Carroll Kuemper on Monday.
