The Holidays are in full swing in Adams County, Here’s an update from the Adams Community Chamber of Commerce
Thanksgiving Day – Cooper’s Kitchen is hosting their 5th Annual Thanksgiving Meal at the Eagle’s Nest from 11AM-3PM – Call ahead to Holly at 641.335.2243 to reserve your meal today. Free will donation.
Friday, November 29th, the Adams County Historic Preservation Commissioners are kicking off their first of two weekends of Open Houses to celebrate 35 Years of Preservation for Adams County. Friday’s is a Chamber Coffee starting at 10AM (open until 3PM), same hours 11/30, 12/06, 12/07. They will be open Sundays 12/01 & 12/08 from Noon to 3PM. The open houses are at 609 Davis Ave – the former First Federal Bank. Light refreshments will be served. This is a great opportunity to speak with the Commissioners and hear about all they have done and are doing to preserve the great history in Adams County.
Saturday, November 30th, is Small Business Saturday of course. Join our SBS BINGO Challenge! Pick up a card from a participating Chamber business, shop your way through town, and complete your card by earning squares for supporting local businesses. Specials from the participating businesses will be featured on the back of the cards. Drop off your completed card in the Present box outside of the Lauvstad Visitor Center (Chamber office) located at 710 Davis Ave for a chance to win a $50 e-Card (BINGO) or a $100 e-Card (BLACKOUT). The drawing for the Chamber e-Card prizes will take place on December 4th.
Speaking of e-Cards, they’re the perfect gift for anyone who enjoys shopping local in Corning! These digital cards are easy to purchase and send directly to the recipient’s email inbox. Not only can they be used at 15 fantastic local businesses, with more being added all the time, but they’re also accepted at locations with online stores, making shopping even more convenient. It’s a simple, thoughtful way to support our community and encourage shopping local!
Also on Saturday, Santa is coming to town! He will be in his workshop from 4:30-5:45PM before the Main Street Lighted Parade at 6PM. It’s looking to be a chilly evening, so bundle up, grab a hot cocoa, and enjoy the first of Christmas in Corning!
Heading into December:
Dec. 6th @ 10AM is CHI Health Mercy Corning’s Light of Hope Tree Lighting Ceremony & Reading of the Names at the CHI Mercy Café. Dedicate a light in honor of your loved ones with a minimum contribution of $20.
Dec. 7th is Kid’s Shopping Day – go to Main Street’s Facebook to find out more and get your children signed up. Santa will be in his workshop again from 11:30AM-1PM. And @ 5PM – 11th Annual Norvell Houck Remembrance Meal and Fundraiser. Free will donation meal serving breakfast for dinner. The auction is at 6PM. Proceeds aid charitable organizations and people in need.
Throughout the month of December, we will be collecting nominations for the Christmas Decorating Content ($500 to be awarded!) through Dec. 24th. Starting December 1st, we will also being accepting nominations for our Chamber awards: Membership Required for Entrepreneur of
the Year, Agriculturalist of the Year, and Business of the Year. Additional awards that do NOT require membership include John McMahon Volunteer of the Year and the Joe Cook Lifetime Support Award. Our Annual Banquet will be Saturday, February 1st.
