From the Council Bluffs Police Department

UPDATE: The victim has been identified as 19-year-old Aliyah Parker of Shenandoah, IA. Preliminary
investigation revealed that the victim was operating a 2008 Chevrolet Malibu when she lost control and
rear-ended the trailer of a semi that was also westbound. Driving too fast for roadway conditions was
the apparent cause of the crash. Any witnesses are encouraged to contact the Traffic Unit at 712-328
4948.

On January 24, 2026 at 11:15am emergency crews responded to I-80 Westbound at the 0-mile marker
to investigate a motor vehicle accident. Officers arrived to find a two-vehicle accident with one of the
drivers suffering serious injuries, this driver later succumbed to their injuries.
Traffic on Westbound I-80 was reduced to one lane while the accident was being investigated, this
reduction lasted until approximately 2:00pm when all lanes were cleared.
At this time, no names are being released, as this remains an ongoing investigation by the Council Bluffs
Police Department Traffic Unit.
