The Red Oak Country Club continues to build momentum following a series of improvements to its clubhouse, golf course, and member offerings, while also preparing to welcome a new public dining option this summer.

John Hollen joined KCSI to provide an update on the club’s progress and introduce Duane Foster, owner of Duane’s Barbecue LLC, who will begin offering pop-up dining at the clubhouse.

A new barbecue dining option is coming to the Red Oak Country Club, and it will be open to the public.
The first public dates are scheduled for Saturday, July 18 and Saturday, July 25, with service planned from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. and again during the evening.
Additional pop-up dates are scheduled for August 8, August 22, September 5, and September 19.
Foster cooks with a smoker trailer and plans to use hickory and cherry wood. He said patience, seasoning, timing, rotation, and wood choice are all important parts of the smoking process.
Foster has also earned recognition for his barbecue. He won first place for dry-rub ribs at Rib Stock 2022 in Aksarben.
Hollen said the country club board and their families recently sampled Foster’s food and were impressed.
“I heard not one negative comment about his food,” Holland said. “It is awesome.”
The club plans to evaluate the pop-up dining over the next few months. Hollen said strong turnout from both members and the public will be important in determining the long-term future of restaurant service at the club.
