Jordan Perkins Introduced as New YMCA Sports Programming Manager
The Montgomery County Family YMCA has introduced Jordan Perkins as its new Sports Programming Manager.
Perkins is originally from Bedford, Iowa, and graduated from Bedford High School in 2020. He attended Northwest Missouri State University, where he earned a bachelor’s degree in exercise science and later completed a master’s degree in recreation sports management.
Perkins said one of his biggest goals at the YMCA is to increase engagement in sports programs. He said participation numbers have been inconsistent over the last several years, and he wants to help build programs that parents want their children to be involved in.
He said the goal is to give kids a safe place to be active, have fun and feel connected.
Georganna Derr with the YMCA said the new position was created because the organization saw an opportunity to expand and improve programming. She said the YMCA wants to offer more opportunities such as speed and agility camps, pre-sports training camps and stronger youth sports programming.
Perkins will also begin serving as the new athletic director at Stanton Community School District on July 1. He will also be the boys’ head basketball coach at Stanton.
Community members with ideas for YMCA sports or recreation programs are encouraged to contact Perkins or stop by the YMCA.
