The Red Oak Fire Department was called for mutual aid on Thursday, July 2nd, at approximately 6:55 a.m. to assist the Emerson Fire Department with a large shop fire in the 400 block of Howland Avenue in Emerson.
Multiple Mills County fire agencies were also dispatched to provide additional apparatus and firefighters.
Agencies responding included Emerson Fire/Rescue, Red Oak Fire/Rescue, Silver City Fire/Rescue, Malvern Fire/Rescue, the Mills County Sheriff’s Office, Mills County Communications, Montgomery County Communications, MidAmerican Utilities, Emerson Public Works, and the Iowa Department of Natural Resources.
According to information released by Red Oak Fire Chief John Bruce, the fire was contained to the structure. The amount of loss or damage was unknown at the time of the release.
At the time the information was released, Emerson and Malvern Fire Departments remained on scene finishing salvage and overhaul operations.
No injuries were reported at the time of the release.
