Montgomery County Family YMCA launching Guppy Gang Saturday August 1

The Montgomery County Family YMCA will introduce a new activity for young children when it hosts its first Guppy Gang program Saturday, August 1, at 10 a.m.

The first Guppy Gang gathering will feature a Toy Story theme. Activities will include reading stories, playing games and spending time in the YMCA pool. Families should bring swimsuits for participating children.

Prize drawings will be held during the event, and participants will also have an opportunity to win tickets to see “Toy Story 5” at the Red Oak Grand Theatre.

Advance registration is not required. The program is included with YMCA membership. Nonmembers may participate by purchasing a day pass. Youth day passes are $5, younger children are admitted free, and a family day pass is $20. Those purchasing a day pass may remain at the YMCA for the rest of the day.

Guppy Gang is designed primarily for toddlers and other younger children. Georgana Derr, membership director and customer service manager for the Montgomery County Family YMCA, said additional Guppy Gang programs are planned in the future.
