Nishna Productions: Building Fuller Lives in Southwest Iowa

Nishna Productions, Inc. continues to grow as a cornerstone of support for people with disabilities across Page, Fremont, Mills, and Montgomery counties. In a recent visit to KCSI, Development Specialist Emily Martin, Day Services Team Leader Mary Wade, and Direct Support Professional Connor Knight shared the heart of the agency’s work—empowering individuals to live fuller, more meaningful, and connected lives in the communities of their choice.

Emily Martin emphasized that Direct Support Professionals are “the absolute backbone of everything we do.” The agency employs close to 180 DSPs and is always hiring. New residential capacity is coming online soon in Red Oak; a new house is nearing completion and is expected to open sometime in September. Staffing will be needed, including potential 24/7 coverage depending on the residents’ schedules.

Nishna Productions recently updated its logo and mission statement. The agency’s longtime motto remains “Builders of Lives.” Staff will receive new agency T-shirts featuring the refreshed branding during Direct Support Professionals Week in September. The organization also stays active in the community—serving roughly 350 root beer floats at National Night Out, supporting Meals on Wheels, volunteering at local daycares, and assisting with plantings and other projects. Day hab groups are eager for additional daytime volunteer opportunities across the Sunshine Country listening area.

Anyone interested in joining the team can apply online at nishna.org under the Careers tab. Those who prefer not to apply online are welcome to stop by and pick up a paper application. Flexible schedules are available for people finishing degrees or balancing other commitments.
