Clarinda Students Close School Year With Statewide Success in FFA, FCCLA, History Day, Fine Arts and Spring Sports

Clarinda Activities Director and Assistant Principal Eli Bales said May has been especially full as the district nears the end of the school year, with graduation set for Sunday, May 17, and the final day of school coming the following Thursday.

  • State FFA Expo: April
  • Baseball and softball started: May 4
  • Track state qualifying: Today at Treynor
  • Girls golf regionals: Friday at Shenandoah
  • Boys tennis individual districts: Saturday at Red Oak
  • Graduation: Sunday, May 17
  • Boys golf next round: May 18 at Shenandoah
  • Tennis regionals: May 20 against St. Albert
  • Possible girls golf next round: May 20 at West Marshall
  • Baseball spaghetti feed fundraiser: June 3 at Clarinda Regional Health Center
  • Clarinda baseball at Busch Stadium: June 28
  • FCCLA nationals: July in Washington, D.C.
  • National History Day nationals: Summer at University of Maryland
Major highlights
  • Clarinda FFA had multiple state champions, state runners-up and national qualifiers.
  • Nine Clarinda students earned Iowa FFA Degrees.
  • National soils judging team placed 25th out of 102 teams.
  • FCCLA completed community service projects and qualified two students for nationals.
  • Adriana Payne qualified for National History Day nationals.
  • Clarinda band earned a Division I rating.
  • Boys golf won sectionals with a 310.
  • Boys tennis finished 8-2 and second in the Hawkeye 10.
  • Girls track scored its highest-ever point total at the Hawkeye 10 meet.
  • Clarinda baseball is selling tickets for a June 28 game at Busch Stadium.
