Following recent severe weather concerns in southwest Iowa, Aaron Johnson of Ibex Roofing joined KCSI to discuss storm restoration, roofing inspections, and what homeowners should know before signing with a contractor
Johnson said Ibex Roofing is locally based near Red Oak and works on residential asphalt roofs, flat roofs, hidden-fastener metal roofs, commercial projects, pole barns, barndominiums, repairs, and siding. He said the company has four crews available and focuses on quality materials, including Class 4 impact-resistant roofing products.
A major point Johnson emphasized was that homeowners should not feel pressured to rush the insurance or repair process. He encouraged residents to contact their insurance agent first before filing a claim and to avoid signing documents too quickly with door-to-door contractors.
Johnson said Ibex uses drone photography and storm tracking tools to document damage and assist with the insurance process. He also noted that the City of Red Oak requires peddler’s permits, contractor license information, proof of insurance, and tax permit information for those going door-to-door.
Johnson encouraged residents to consider local contractors, saying local businesses remain accountable and involved in the community long after storm repairs are complete. He said homeowners should know their out-of-pocket costs before agreeing to a project and should review any scope of work carefully.
Ibex Roofing can be reached at 712-789-0220. Johnson said texts are preferred during busy storm response periods, especially for non-emergency situations.
