A new free small business education series in Shenandoah is designed to help entrepreneurs turn ideas into working businesses.
Dr. Margaret Brady said Roots to Revenue will be offered through Iowa Western Community College and its small business programming. The series will include standalone evening sessions, meaning participants can attend one class or take part in the full series.
The first session is scheduled for July 15 from 7 to 8:30 p.m. at the Iowa Western Page County Campus in Shenandoah. Josh Baker will lead the session on how to write a business plan.
Brady said the business plan session is intended to help people think through whether their idea can become a reality. She said many people have a dream for a small business, but do not always know what steps to take first.
Additional sessions include working with a financial institution on July 22, basic bookkeeping on July 29, retail design on August 5, and technology for business growth on August 26. Brady said another session on marketing may also be added.
The classes are free, but participants are asked to register to reserve a spot. The series has a cap of 30 participants.
