Families are invited to downtown Red Oak for the community’s 10th National Night Out celebration on Tuesday, Aug. 4.
The free event will be held from 6 to 8 p.m. at Fountain Square Park.
National Night Out will feature first responders from Montgomery County and surrounding communities, approximately 75 participating businesses and organizations, emergency vehicles, military equipment, games, giveaways and activities for children.
Free food will include pulled pork sandwiches, hot dogs, nachos, popcorn, snow cones, cotton candy, ice pops, chips, desserts and other treats. Food will be available while supplies last, and attendees are encouraged to arrive early.
Activities will include balloon artists from the Balloon Brigade of Omaha, a new Foam Frenzy Play Zone, games hosted by local businesses and organizations, a fire hose activity presented by Behind the Shield and a Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office K-9 demonstration.
The K-9 demonstration will take place shortly after the opening ceremony in the empty lot on the west side of the square. Spectators should remain behind the designated barricades.
The Cedar Ridge Aviation helicopter is also expected to be displayed near the northwest corner of the square.
The downtown square and the first block in each direction will close to traffic at approximately 4 p.m. Attendees should plan to park in one of the public parking areas surrounding downtown and walk to the event.
Red Oak Police Department challenge coins will be available for $10, and first responder tumblers will be available for $20. Proceeds will help fund future National Night Out celebrations.
