• Four-year-old preschool first day — Tuesday, Sept. 8, 8:10 a.m. (home visits complete). Elementary start time is 8:10 a.m.; students may arrive at 7:45.
• Wolverine Pride / Wolverine Way monthly assembly — next one on Homecoming (Oct. 2). This month’s letter: P = Positive Attitude.
• PTO Spirit Store — green and black East Mills gear at home games; hoped-for sales during Homecoming week school days. Order and pick up through the PTO Facebook page. PTO president Jensen Stevens also selling generic Wolverine shirts. Proceeds stay with the PTO for field trips, snacks, and student events.
• PTO free-will pasta dinner — Tuesday, Sept. 22, before the home volleyball match vs. Fremont-Mills. Menu from Classic Cafe. Pay what you can.
• Homecoming — Friday, Oct. 2. Football vs. Boyer Valley at East Mills (Bound lists 7:00 p.m.). Theme: video games (fifth grade: Minecraft).
• Fall testing — MAP completed last week (PK–12). FAST this week. Results build WIN time groups: 30 minutes reading + 30 minutes math.
• Junior high volleyball — home vs. Griswold, Tuesday, Sept. 8, 4:00 p.m. Players in the gym by 3:00. About 24 girls in grades 7–8.
East Mills Elementary Principal Melissa Nielsen told KCSI the third week of school has been a smooth start, with four-year-old preschool opening today after required home visits. The district has rebuilt Wolverine Pride as a preschool-through-12th-grade effort, the PTO has a new Spirit Store and a September 22 pasta dinner, Homecoming is October 2 against Boyer Valley with a video-game theme, and fourth-grader Henry Beebe has qualified as a National MathStar — one of 34 Iowa students his age. Nielsen also walked through fall MAP and FAST testing, WIN intervention time, the state’s elementary screen-time limit, and a packed night of home volleyball and football.
