Tigers Get Wild About HoCo: Student Council Lays Out Homecoming Week
Red Oak High School Student Council president Owen Blystone, vice president Natalie Johnson, and secretary Audri Johnson stopped by KCSI on Friday, Sept. 11, to walk through “Wild About HoCo,” the jungle-and-safari theme they built around animal print, school spirit, and a full week of student-run events.
Dress Up Days:
Monday, Sept. 21 — Slumber in the Jungle: pajama day
• Tuesday, Sept. 22 — Hunting the Trojans: camo, aimed at Friday’s opponent
• Wednesday, Sept. 23 — Wild Ware Wednesday: animal print
• Thursday, Sept. 24 — Wild Ways to Carry: anything but a backpack (suitcases, shopping carts, even a kayak if you can get it through the door — leave the little siblings at home)
• Friday, Sept. 25 — Tiger Territory: traditional Tiger Pride Day
The games committee is running after-school events Monday, Tuesday, and Thursday in the gym for any student who wants to show up. Planned options include dodgeball, a volleyball tournament, pickleball, and cornhole. Final event list is still being locked.
The homecoming parade uses the usual route. Lineup is 2 p.m.; step-off is 2:30 p.m. Friday. Local businesses that have not heard from the parade committee can call the high school and ask for Blystone to get on the list.
A Friday pep rally is on the calendar. Student Council wants it bigger than in recent years.
The Saturday dance is jungle-themed to match the week, with a DJ . Tickets sell before school all week in the main hallway by the media center. Out-of-town dates are welcome if they are in grades 9–12 and turn in an office permission slip next week. No slip, no entry.
Photos in the park remain a student tradition, not a Student Council event. Plan on about 5 p.m. Saturday, then dinner, then the 8 p.m. dance.
