Brokaw FFA state champions take parliamentary procedure to Indianapolis
Sixteen Brokaw FFA members from Clarinda are in Indianapolis this week for the 99th National FFA Convention & Expo, including the six-student parliamentary procedure team that won the Iowa state contest last April.
Advisor Andy Johnson, in his 27th year teaching in Clarinda, said the chapter has about 109 members this year and has been above 100 for the last five or six years. Brokaw normally takes about 10 students to the national convention, usually around their sophomore year. The extra six this year are the state champions representing Iowa in the national parliamentary procedure contest.
The six members are Noah Wellhausen, a senior and the team’s presiding officer; Kelsey Stephens, a junior; Lucy Morrison, a sophomore; Jaeyln Gray, a junior; Ellie Carter, a junior; and Chandy Nothwehr.
The 99th National FFA Convention & Expo runs Oct. 21–24 in Indianapolis under the theme “Evolve, Engage and Empower.” Brokaw FFA advisors are Andy Johnson, Emma Cutler, and Logan Henry.
