Southwest Valley has a big stretch of activities coming up.
Monday, February 9 is a no-school day for students (staff professional development), and that night Southwest Valley will host the Red Oak Tigers in Villisca for the district’s one varsity basketball event being held in Villisca this season. JV boys at 4:30, varsity girls at 6:00, varsity boys around 7:30.
Also on Feb. 9, the Villisca Lions Club will be collecting gently used shoes and boots for a Soles for Souls drive, along with glasses and hearing aids. Bring donations to the middle school and drop them at the table in the main hall when you enter.
Then on Tuesday, February 10, all 6th–8th graders will take an experience trip to an Iowa Wolves education-day game in downtown Des Moines. A big thank you to Villisca Alumni and Friends Association (VAFA) for covering tickets and buses. More info at villiscaalumni.org.
Thursday, February 12: Junior high wrestling meet starts at 4:00 p.m. at the Corning Activity Center (not the Villisca middle school)
