Key items included SWIPCO board appointments, adoption of 2026 strategic priorities (visual appearance, infrastructure, housing inventory, recreational opportunities), and a first reading approved on an ordinance that would double building permit fees when required permits are not obtained prior to construction.
The mayor also shared an update on late-January cold-weather damage at the wastewater treatment plant, with estimated costs around $100,000 and the city responsible for the deductible, along with an update on the first of five Iowa State University student visits tied to housing and floodplain-related work.
Reminders: Hotel/motel grant applications are due Feb. 27. Openings are available on the Historic Preservation and Planning & Zoning boards (please contact City Hall by Feb. 26). Budget meetings are planned for Feb. 9 and Feb. 23. Spring Clean is April 25
