Southwest Valley Superintendent Joe Erickson joined us this morning after an exciting, packed night of basketball in Villisca. Erickson recapped a standout winter season for Timberwolf activities, including conference success, postseason home games coming up next week, and a state-qualifying girls’ wrestler.
We also talked about what school leaders are watching in Des Moines right now, including State Supplemental Aid (SSA), property tax discussions, and concerns about how changes to SAVE funding could impact long-term facility and safety projects. Erickson also addressed the challenge of unfunded mandates and how new requirements can strain local budgets
