Steven Wainwright joined KCSI to share details about the Camp Appleseed Prayer Chapel, a new prayer space located at Camp Appleseed near the Ladoga-LaBlanche Apple Orchard east of Clarinda.
Wainwright said the chapel is open to anyone looking for a peaceful place to pray, reflect, or spend time with God. The chapel is located on the Camp Appleseed grounds, about 10 miles east of Clarinda on State Highway 2. Visitors should turn south on Franklin Road near the lake and look for the white building on the hill with a copper cross.
A dedication service for the prayer chapel will be held Saturday, May 30, at 4:00 p.m. The event will include a worship and prayer experience, a time of remembrance for loved ones who have passed, and homemade ice cream with strawberry shortcake.
Wainwright said the chapel is open 24/7, though anyone planning to come at night is asked to call ahead at 712-303-7766. The camp is operated as a nonprofit and welcomes free-will donations.
Camp Appleseed also hosts activities for children, church groups, homeschoolers, 4-H groups, and others. The camp includes a lake, fishing, kayaks, paddle boats, shelter areas, and other gathering spaces.
