Resilient Farms to Host Invasive Species and Riparian Buffer Field Day June 20

Resilient Farms, in partnership with Trees Forever, the Sustainable Iowa Land Trust and the Montgomery County Soil and Water Conservation District, will host a field day focused on invasive species identification and riparian buffer restoration on Saturday, June 20.

Event: Invasive Species and Riparian Buffer Restoration Field Day
**Date: **Saturday, June 20
Time: 1:00 to 3:00 p.m.
Registration/Check-In: Opens at 12:30 p.m. Attendees are encouraged to arrive early, sign in, grab a snack and be ready for the program to begin promptly at 1:00 p.m.
Location: Resilient Farms, 1580 200th Street, Red Oak, Iowa. The farm is located just west of the Red Oak Airport on Old Highway 34, now 200th Street, on the south side of the road near the crest of the hill.
Registration: Registration is available through the Trees Forever website at treesforever.org under the events calendar. Registration is encouraged to help organizers plan for attendance, but it is not required. Walk-ins are welcome.
What to Bring/Wear: Attendees should dress for outdoor farm work. Closed-toe shoes are strongly recommended, along with long pants, gloves, sunscreen, a hat and insect repellent. Work boots or sturdy tennis shoes are encouraged. Participants may also bring their own hand tools if they have them.
Tools and Safety: The field day will use hand tools only, including loppers and other removal tools. Organizers may demonstrate herbicide treatment for cut stems and will provide nitrile gloves for those who prefer not to have direct exposure.
Food and Drink: Water, beverages and snacks will be available.
Partners/Sponsors: Trees Forever, Resilient Farms, Sustainable Iowa Land Trust and the Montgomery County Soil and Water Conservation District.
The event is open to anyone interested in learning more about invasive species management, riparian buffer maintenance, agroforestry and conservation practices that can benefit farms, waterways and wildlife habitat.
