Clarinda track is underway, and head coach Chad Blank says the program has 105 athletes out this season — 53 girls and 52 boys in grades 9–12
Managing a roster of 105 takes a full staff, and Blank said Clarinda is fortunate to have event-specific coaches to keep athletes supported and developing in the right areas. He also explained how coaches help athletes find their best events — sometimes having tough but important conversations when a student wants to sprint, but may be better suited for longer distances like the 400 or 800.
Clarinda’s first competition is an indoor meet at Iowa State University on March 13, and Blank said the new format will have boys and girls competing on the same day — a big benefit for Clarinda’s co-ed program. He expects a schedule of roughly 13–14 meets this season, with adjustments possible depending on spring weather.
