MOSQUITO CREEK, Iowa — A Minden man died Monday afternoon following a crash on Interstate 880 near mile marker 16.
According to the Iowa State Patrol, the crash happened at approximately 4:30 p.m. on June 15. Authorities say a 2021 Subaru Legacy was eastbound on I-880 when it left the roadway, crossed the median, and struck a bridge railing on the westbound side of the interstate.
The impact caused the vehicle to become airborne before striking the creek bank below the bridge. The vehicle came to rest upside down in Mosquito Creek.
The driver, 22-year-old Aaron Charles Roloff of Minden, was found deceased at the scene. The report indicates he was not wearing a seatbelt.
The vehicle was towed by Lyon’s Towing. The Iowa Department of Transportation assisted at the scene.
The crash remains under investigation by the Iowa State Patrol.
