Pumpkins With a Purpose: The Lala Project Returns Sunday, Sept. 20

What started with one packet of pumpkin seeds and an $800 driveway sale is now an 11-year community tradition. On Sunday, Sept. 20, Dave and Corinne Jenkins will open the doors of the White Fair Building at the Montgomery County Fairgrounds from 1 to 3 p.m. for The Lala Project’s annual free-will pumpkin sale.

There are no price tags. Visitors take the pumpkins they want — jack-o’-lanterns, baby gourds, bumpy “sweater” pumpkins, the weirder the better, Corinne says — and leave a donation. When the pumpkins are gone, the sale is over. Best selection is at the door.

Every dollar goes toward care packages for people going through cancer treatment.
