The Switch Center Campus in the East Mills area has rebranded as the Switch Lakin Foundation Training Hub, located in the former Nishna Valley School building. Director Kattie Lewis and iJAG Career Success Coach shared how the Hub is bringing vocational training and education opportunities to Southwest Iowa learners, from pre-K through adult programs.
Partners in the building include Iowa Western, iJAG, West Central Community Action, Clarkson College, Green Hills AEA (coming this summer), and Rising Hope Academy, which is expanding.
Iowa Western offerings include CNA and HVAC, with construction trades planned this fall. The Hub also now has a commercial kitchen license, and space can be rented for eligible uses like preparing goods for farmers markets or catering.
The Hub is also expanding free public workshops (topics include trauma and resilience and online safety), and the annual STEM Festival is set for April 28.
