Traffic Stop Leads to Drug Arrest in Montgomery County

RED OAK, Iowa — A traffic stop in Montgomery County led to the arrest of an Essex man Tuesday evening.

According to the Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office, deputies conducted a traffic stop around 7:12 p.m. on June 2, 2026, in the 300 block of Highway 34 for a traffic violation. Following further investigation, deputies arrested 51-year-old Arthur Lee Castle of Essex.

Castle was charged with possession of a controlled substance — marijuana, second offense. He was taken into custody and transported to the Montgomery County Jail, where he was being held on a $1,000 bond.
