RED OAK, Iowa — Two people were arrested by the Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office on Tuesday, May 12.
According to the Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office, deputies arrested 41-year-old Cory Smith of Elliott at approximately 5:12 p.m. on an active Montgomery County warrant for driving while barred. Smith was transported to the Montgomery County Jail and held on $5,000 bond.
Deputies also arrested 40-year-old Anthony Wasson of Red Oak at approximately 5:19 p.m. Wasson had been served a protection order at approximately 12:55 a.m. on May 12, and authorities said he was later found to have attempted to contact the protected party by text message.
Wasson was charged with violation of a no-contact order, simple misdemeanor. He was transported to the Montgomery County Jail and held on $300 bond.
A criminal charge is merely an accusation, and defendants are presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty in court.
