The Wilson Performing Arts Center has a big weekend ahead and an exciting new season on the horizon.
Saturday’s Wilson Youth Talent Showcase starts at 6:30 p.m. and will feature 20 contestants performing in 17 acts, with young performers ages 9 to 18 taking the stage. Gabby Smith and Gabe Kingery will serve as hosts for the evening, and organizers say it is shaping up to be a fun and entertaining event for the whole community.
Tickets are $20, and proceeds will support the Wilson scholarship fund to help kids take part in camps, classes, and other opportunities. Grand prize winners in each age category will receive $500 thanks to sponsor MCMH.
The Wilson also used the interview to announce its new season, which includes a wide variety of concerts, musicals, community theater productions, children’s events, and special performances.
Upcoming shows already on sale include Dear Jack, Dear Louise on April 17-19, Dueling Divas on May 2, and Legally Blonde: The Musical on June 5-14. Summer camps are also filling quickly, including The Day the Crayons Quit and Frozen Junior.
For tickets, season details, camp registration, or to donate items for contestant gift bags, visit wilsonartscenter.org or call 712-623-3183.
