YMCA Pumpkin Toss Replaces Mystery Drop, Raises Money for Annual Campaign
EVENT SPECIFICS — GREAT YMCA PUMPKIN TOSS
What: Pumpkin chunkin’ contest, indoor vendor fair, concessions, caramel apple bar, fall dirty sodas, fall-themed mini golf, seasonal displays. Free to attend; paid tickets to launch.
When: Saturday, October 25, 2026. Pumpkin launching 10:00 a.m.–5:00 p.m. Vendor fair 2:00–5:00 p.m. KCSI on site at 2:00 p.m.
Where: Montgomery County Family YMCA, 101 E. Cherry Street, Red Oak, Iowa. Tickets: $50 per launch. Early-bird special through Sept. 30: four tickets for $125 (buy three, get one free). Sold at the Y front desk. Buyers ring the cowbell. If you cannot attend: Turn the ticket back in. Y staff or a person you designate will shoot for you; you remain eligible for prizes.
How you shoot: Choose a 1–2 lb. pumpkin from the patch. Use the slingshot (about 50–75 feet) or the fixed catapult. Closest to the bull’s-eye wins. Prizes: 1st — $1,000 • 2nd — $500 • 3rd — $250.
Vendors: Indoor gym spaces still available. Church groups, holiday sellers, and community booths welcome. Contact the Y front desk. Proceeds: 100% to the Y annual campaign — financial assistance for memberships and programs (sports, art, STEM, and more) so cost is not a barrier.
