Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office investigating animal neglect case in Stanton

STANTON, Iowa — The Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office is investigating a possible animal neglect case in Stanton.
The sheriff’s office says it received information on September 24, 2026, concerning possible animal neglect. As part of the investigation, the Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office and the Animal Rescue League of Iowa executed a search warrant at approximately 12:48 p.m. on September 25 at a property in the 300 block of Prairie Avenue in Stanton.
Authorities say 18 dogs were recovered from the property and turned over to the Animal Rescue League of Iowa.
The Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office says the investigation is ongoing and charges are pending
