Tribute to Liz Jones, Class of 1980, Inducted to Red Oak Athletic Hall of Fame

Tribute to Liz Jones, Class of 1980, Inducted to Red Oak Athletic Hall of Fame, Kate Roberts sat down with KCSI the morning of the induction.

 

“Thank you all for giving her this honor,” she said. “I know her family appreciates this more than anyone can understand.

 

 

Elizabeth “Liz” Jones scored 1,881 points in a Red Oak uniform, dropped 68 on Creston in a single night, and still found time for softball, track, and the first girls volleyball team the school ever fielded. On Friday, Sept. 25, she goes into the Red Oak Athletic Hall of Fame at Homecoming.

Jones passed away in 2009. Her family accepts the honor.  Her mother, Carolyn, her sister, Sue, and her three daughters — Megan, Emily, and Allison — are in town from Lincoln, where Jones last lived. There are five grandchildren.
