A juvenile died following a single-vehicle crash Saturday night in Adair County.

According to the Iowa State Patrol, the accident happened Saturday, June 27th, at approximately 11:30 p.m. on Brown Avenue south of 160th Street.

Authorities say a 2014 Chevrolet Equinox, driven by a 17-year-old minor, was traveling southbound on Brown Avenue in the 1600 block when the vehicle left the roadway to the right and entered the ditch. The vehicle continued through the ditch before colliding with a culvert, causing it to roll.

The Equinox came to rest on its driver’s side. The Iowa State Patrol reports all five occupants were able to get out of the vehicle.

The occupants were transported by private vehicles to Cass County Memorial Hospital. One juvenile occupant later succumbed to injuries.

The Iowa State Patrol report identifies the fatality as a 17-year-old minor from Lewis, Iowa. The report also noted the juvenile was not wearing a seatbelt.

The crash remains under investigation by the Iowa State Patrol. Trooper Burn investigated the accident and was assisted by Sergeant Elwood and the Adair County Sheriff’s Office.
