October calendar from the conversation:
• Oct. 2 — East Mills / Malvern homecoming.
• Oct. 2 — Psycho Schoolhouse grand opening, old schoolhouse, Pacific Junction (same operators as Hillside House of Hell in Glenwood). Check their Facebook / scareiowa.com for tickets and hours.
• Oct. 3 (Saturday) — Keg Creek Brewing 15th anniversary + Oktoberfest, Glenwood. Check the brewery Facebook page for the day’s lineup.
• Thursdays in October, 7:00 p.m. — Art Church live music nights, Malvern. Confirm on their site if a date shifts.
• Oct. 6 — Iowa 4-H Giving Day. Mills County ISU Extension is deeply involved.
• Oct. 16 — Glenwood homecoming.
• Oct. 18 — Malvern Trunk or Treat.
• Oct. 24 — Tabor Hop N’ Shop craft fair.
• Oct. 24 — 23rd annual Square Crow Days, Glenwood square, about 9:00–11:00 a.m. Streets blocked; vendors; free candy. Organized with Emily Prickett and the YMCA.
• Oct. 25 (Sunday) — Country breakfast, Indian Creek Museum, Hastings.
Museums:
• Mills County Historical Museum, Glenwood — volunteers needed, especially into the holiday season.
• Todd House, Tabor — one of four Underground Railroad museums in Iowa. House-based site with maps of the Iowa route.
• Malvern Historical Society — purchased a building; fundraising, including a quilt raffle.
• Silver City Historical Museum.
• Indian Creek Museum, Hastings — buildings are full; fundraising for a new building.
