The Red Oak boys track team is preparing to open the 2026 season this week, and expectations are high for several athletes.
Head coach Sueann French joined KCSI along with senior sprinter Cale Hall and junior distance runner Emanuel Grass to talk about the upcoming season.
The Tigers will open Friday at the Iowa Association of Track Coaches indoor meet at Iowa State University. Because of the new qualifying format, Red Oak will take nine athletes to compete.
Hall, a senior, runs the 100 and 200 and has been competing in indoor meets this winter against top athletes in Iowa. Grass, a junior, focuses on distance events and says the mile is currently his best race.  Both athletes say they are aiming for strong times this season and hope to qualify for the Drake Relays.
