Southwest Valley Schools Enter Busy Spring Stretch with Testing, Field Trips, and Career Exploration

As the school year winds down, activity is ramping up across the Southwest Valley Community School District. PK-8 West Campus Principal Liz Timmerman says late April and May bring a full schedule of testing, field trips, concerts, and student opportunities.

Timmerman encourages community members to attend school events and support students during this busy season.

 

  • Iowa Assessments completed district-wide last week
  • Additional FAST, i-Ready, and IXL testing continues
  • Field trips:
    • K–1 visited Red Oak businesses and YMCA
    • 2nd–3rd graders heading to the zoo
  • School Bus Driver Appreciation Week recognized
  • Transportation Director: Kyle Williams
  • Concert schedule:
    • Corning Elementary (multiple grade levels, split times)
    • Enerson Elementary (Thursday, 6:00 PM, Villisca)
    • Middle School Concert (Monday, 6:00 PM)
    • High School Concert next week
  • 17 eighth graders attending SWITCH career exploration event
  • Career exposure includes:
    • Trades
    • Medical field
    • Technology and ag-related careers
  • Spring sports schedule includes golf, track, and tennis events across multiple sites
  • Emphasis on community support and student engagement
