Stanton Community School District is moving into a packed final stretch of the school year, with end-of-year activities, spring sports, music contests, field trips, senior events and summer construction preparations all underway.
Principal Katie Elwood said May is always a busy and exciting time at the school, with graduation approaching, awards programs on the calendar and spring activities wrapping up.

    • Senior trip begins with students traveling to Kansas City.
    • Junior high boys and girls track travel to Fremont Mills/Tabor.
    • High school boys soccer plays in Red Oak.
  • Saturday, May 2
    • Senior trip continues.
    • Combined junior high and high school band performs at the Richard Simpson Band Festival.
    • Location: Red Oak High School auditorium.
    • Time: 11 a.m.
    • Public invited.
    • Soccer at Red Oak.
    • Time: Noon.
  • Monday, May 4
    • No school.
    • Teacher professional development day.
    • Boys golf at Clarinda.
    • Time: 4:30 p.m.

    • FFA plant sale continues.
    • Location: Stanton elementary concourse.
    • High school boys and girls track at Southwest Valley.
    • Time: 4 p.m.

    • Large group choir contest.
    • Location: Atlantic.
    • Mixed chorus: 7:30 p.m.

    • Admission: $12 adults, $7 senior citizens, $5 students.

    • Stanton High School awards program.
    • Location: Stanton Community Schools gymnasium.
    • Time: 1 p.m.
    • Awards and scholarships for students in grades 9-12.
  • Wednesday, May 13
    • Bethesda Recorder Ensemble performance for second and third graders.
    • Location: Stanton music room.
    • Time: 9:30 a.m.
    • Students will play “Ode to Joy” with the ensemble.
  • Ongoing and reminders
    • Book Blast books will be delivered during the final weeks of school.
    • TeamMates Mentoring of Stanton is seeking mentors and potential board members.
    • Job openings include anticipated activities director/junior high and high school boys basketball, football and basketball cheer sponsor, and 2026-2027 bus route driver.
    • Only 10 copies remain of the 2025-2026 yearbook.
    • Students interested in next year’s journalism class should submit a writing sample to Mrs. Carpenter.
    • Summer construction work is expected to begin after school is out, including work in offices, classrooms and the gym.
