Griswold’s school board will be asked Monday to take the next step on a livestock learning building that has been in the strategic plan for some time.
Superintendent Dave Henrichs said the idea sits under a goal of developing innovative learning opportunities. The building would go on district property right north of the tennis area. It would have pins. Community partners would bring in livestock of different species. Shrimp farming has even been discussed. Students would see the work from birthing through marketing.
The target is high school agriculture students. Elementary students would have a viewing room. Students who want to be in 4-H or FFA but do not have a place of their own could house animals there.
The board meets Monday, Oct. 19, at 5:30 p.m. in the board room. Henrichs said there is not a long list of big items. The ag building and a possible joint meeting with the Lenox board are the two he wanted the public to hear about.
