The duck race will begin at 1 p.m. at the fountain, following the Junction Days parade and other downtown activities. A total of 1,750 ducks are available for the race, with each ticket matching a numbered duck.
Tickets are $5 each, or buyers may purchase a six-pack of tickets for $25.
Prizes include a $1,000 first prize, $200 second prize, and $100 third prize.
Additional prizes donated by local businesses and community members will also be awarded.
This year, Kiwanis plans to draw the smaller prizes first and work up to the $1,000 grand prize at the end.
Tickets may be purchased from Red Oak Kiwanis members, including at Dental Care PC and Vial Insurance.
Tickets are also being sold by several area clubs and organizations that partner with Kiwanis and use the ticket sales as fundraisers for their own groups.
Clubs and organizations selling tickets this year include:
Altrusa
Optimist Club
Red Oak Grand Theatre
Red Oak Music Boosters
Rotary Club
Tickets will also be available the day of the race, unless they sell out. Kiwanis members said tickets are often sold right up until the 1 p.m. race time.
New this year, Venmo will be available for ticket sales on the day of the event, as well as at the Kiwanis K-Dog cart.
Proceeds from the duck race support the Red Oak Kiwanis Club’s local youth-focused projects. Kiwanis supports programs and needs connected to area children, including school activities, youth sports, bike helmets, scholarships, food pantry efforts, holiday assistance, and other community projects.
The duck race is part of Junction Days activities in downtown Red Oak.
The parade is scheduled for 10:30 a.m., and Kiwanis K-Dogs will be available after the parade near the square.
