Montgomery County Veterans Affairs Director Ed Young is asking for help from the community.
A Red Oak veteran needs transportation to the Shenandoah VA clinic on Tuesday, March 10. The appointment is at 1:00 p.m., and the individual will need a ride from Red Oak.
Anyone willing to help can call the Montgomery County Veterans Affairs office at 712-623-3180.
Young also says volunteers who would be willing to help with transportation occasionally in the future are encouraged to call and be added to a list of drivers.
During a recent conversation, Young also discussed proposed state legislation that could reduce funding for many rural county veteran service offices, including Montgomery County, along with updates involving federal VA disability policy and potential health effects tied to anthrax vaccines given to some deployed service members.
