The Montgomery County Family YMCA has welcomed a new executive director.
Adam Graybill officially started this week leading the Red Oak facility. YMCA board member Jason Orme says the search began in mid-November and drew around 50 to 60 applicants from across the country before the board selected Graybill for the position.
Graybill brings more than two decades of experience in restaurant leadership and hospitality management, including time overseeing multiple restaurant locations in Omaha and serving as director of banquets at the Cottonwood Hotel.
Originally from Council Bluffs, Graybill has lived in Emerson for about 10 years. He says his passion for fitness and community involvement drew him to the YMCA opportunity.
Graybill says one of his goals is to continue building the YMCA as a place where the entire community can gather — from youth programs to senior activities.
The YMCA currently has about 1,000 members and leaders say they hope to continue growing participation and expanding programs.
Graybill says community members are encouraged to stop by and introduce themselves, and a public meet-and-greet is expected to be scheduled in the coming weeks.
