RED OAK, Iowa — The Red Oak Police Department reports a two-vehicle accident that occurred at approximately 3:11 p.m. Wednesday, July 29, at the intersection of Highway 48, also known as Broadway, and Coolbaugh Street in Red Oak.

According to the accident report, a 2012 Kia Sorento driven by 21-year-old Emma Irene Farmer of Red Oak was stopped at a red light while facing south on Broadway. A 2013 Jeep Patriot driven by 30-year-old Suzanne Michelle Looper of Shenandoah was directly behind Farmer’s vehicle.

Police said Looper accelerated and struck the rear of Farmer’s Kia, causing minor damage to both vehicles. The Jeep sustained an estimated $500 in damage to its front, while the Kia sustained approximately $1,500 in damage to its rear. No injuries were reported, and both vehicles were driven from the scene.

Looper was issued citations for following too closely and failure to provide proof of financial liability.
