Red Oak Police Report Two-Vehicle Accident with Minor Injuries
RED OAK, Iowa — The Red Oak Police Department investigated a two-vehicle accident Wednesday evening at the intersection of Boundary Street and Valley Street.
According to the report, officers were dispatched at approximately 6:30 p.m. on Wednesday, May 6, for a report of a two-vehicle accident with possible injuries.
Upon investigation, officers found that Rowyn Elizabeth Rigby, 16, of Red Oak, was driving a 2017 Subaru Outback northbound on Valley Street when she failed to yield at the stop sign at the intersection. The Subaru struck a 2020 Hyundai Santa Fe driven by 75-year-old Toni Rae Kesterson of Red Oak. Kesterson was traveling eastbound on Boundary Street at the time of the accident.
Kesterson had to be extracted by Red Oak Fire and Rescue and was transported to Montgomery County Memorial Hospital for minor injuries.
The Hyundai sustained an estimated $9,000 in damage and was towed from the scene by Bates Towing. The Subaru sustained an estimated $6,000 in damage and was driven from the scene.
Rigby was cited for failure to yield from a stop sign.
