Red Oak Police say man arrested on domestic abuse assault charge
RED OAK, Iowa — A Red Oak man was arrested early Friday morning on a domestic abuse assault charge involving a dangerous weapon, according to the Red Oak Police Department.
Police identified the man as Jacob Wayne Dykes-Vargas, 40, of Red Oak. Officers with the Red Oak Police Department arrested Dykes-Vargas at about 6:35 a.m. on April 17 in the 100 block E. Prospect Street.
According to the arrest report and narrative, Dykes-Vargas was charged with domestic abuse assault while displaying a dangerous weapon, first offense, an aggravated misdemeanor under Iowa Code 708.2A(2)(e).
The arrest report shows Dykes-Vargas was jailed following the arrest and was being held on no bond.
Authorities note that a criminal charge is only an accusation, and the defendant is presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty in court.
