Stanton Community School District Principal Katie Elwood says the district is at the midterm point of third quarter and is already preparing for Iowa Statewide Assessments in March. Elementary students will test March 10–13, with middle school and high school testing March 17–20. Elwood also noted some testing will be adaptive this year, adjusting questions as students respond.
The district has multiple job openings posted, plus continued needs for substitutes, paraeducators, kitchen staff and drivers. TeamMATES Mentoring of Stanton is also seeking additional mentors.
Stanton students will compete Saturday at the State Large Group Speech Contest at West Des Moines Valley High School, including two radio broadcasting entries. Elwood also congratulated new National Honor Society inductees, recognized Students of the Week, and shared upcoming music opportunities and activity dates, including a March 8 trip to see The Music Man at the Lied Center in Lincoln
