Dr. Margaret Brady is inviting the community to take part in several upcoming opportunities at The Mill in Shenandoah, from the return of Market at The Mill to parties and gatherings at the Millcade.
Brady said the next Market at The Mill is scheduled for Saturday, April 11, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. The monthly market will feature local vendors, food, and a variety of handmade and specialty items.
She said about 11 vendors are already lined up, with room still available for more participants. Returning vendors are expected to include favorites such as homemade pies and jellies, desserts and cupcakes, collectibles, rocks and fossils, and naturally dyed yarn. Juan’s Mexican Grill of Clarinda is also expected to be on site with its food truck during the event.
Brady said vendor space is available for $30 per table, and vendors can pay ahead of time or on the day of the event by cash, check, or card. She also noted a repeat-vendor incentive is available, with vendors receiving their fifth market free after attending four markets.
Those interested in becoming a vendor can reach out through The Mill Facebook page or text Brady directly at 712-246-9126 for more information. She said setup takes place the morning of the event, and vendors are usually finished by about 3 p.m.
For shoppers, Brady said the market is meant to be a fun monthly gathering where people can browse local products, support area makers, and enjoy food in a relaxed setting. She encouraged the public to mark their calendars and stop by.
In addition to the market, Brady is also promoting the Millcade, a retro arcade space inside The Mill that is available to rent for private events and parties.
The Millcade features 32 retro arcade games on free play, along with other activities such as ping pong and basketball shootout games. Brady said the space is popular for children’s birthday parties, but adults enjoy it just as much.
The rental cost for the Millcade is $100, and Brady said renters have access to the space for an afternoon. Guests can bring their own food, use the tables and tablecloths provided, and enjoy a party setting without having to prepare or clean up their own home for an event. At the end, renters simply need to take out their trash.
Brady said The Millcade is designed to be an affordable, easy option for families, groups, and anyone looking for a fun place to gather.
