Tobey Jack’s Mineola Steak House at 408 Main Street continues its longstanding role as a community gathering place under new ownership by Jennifer Poss and her husband Colin. The couple, who live nearby in the country between the Strayer area and Council Bluffs and are active horse people, took over the restaurant roughly two months ago.

Poss said the decision was driven by the welcoming community they experienced after moving to the area. “We went there often to eat ourselves,” she said. “When we moved out here, it was just welcoming arms. The community, they were just amazing.” She described Tobey Jack’s as a place where people feel cozy and at home, and she is working to preserve that while freshening the property.
