According to the Iowa State Patrol, the crash occurred at approximately 3:55 p.m. in the 3100 block of Colt Avenue. The vehicle was a 2008 Chevrolet Impala driven by 41-year-old Scott P. Lance of Maryville.
The State Patrol reports the vehicle was traveling northbound in the southbound lane of Colt Avenue when it partially left the roadway to the left. The vehicle re-entered the roadway before leaving the road to the left a second time, entering the ditch and striking a tree.
Lance was pronounced dead at the scene. The report indicates he was not wearing a seat belt.
The crash was investigated by Iowa State Patrol Trooper Burn of Post 3.
