Congressman Zach Nunn joined KCSI Radio to discuss recent legislative progress, foreign policy developments, and priorities impacting Iowans.
Nunn highlighted a recent win for Iowa agriculture with the approval of a nationwide waiver allowing year-round E15 fuel sales, calling it beneficial for both farmers and consumers. He emphasized the importance of making that policy permanent to provide long-term certainty for ethanol producers.
The Congressman also provided an update on the ongoing situation involving Iran, noting recent military losses and the importance of supporting Gold Star families and wounded service members. He described ongoing efforts to reduce Iran’s military capabilities and prevent nuclear development, while also expressing hope for a diplomatic resolution that avoids further escalation.
On the Farm Bill, Nunn said progress has been made in committee with bipartisan support. He noted that more than 20 of his priorities were included, focusing on rural broadband expansion, support for beginning farmers, disaster recovery improvements, and addressing issues such as illegal dog racing and puppy mills.
Looking ahead, Nunn is preparing for a trade delegation trip to Taiwan. He emphasized Taiwan’s importance as a major trading partner and a key market for Iowa agricultural products such as soybeans, corn, pork, and beef. He also pointed to Taiwan’s critical role in semiconductor production and the importance of strengthening both economic and security ties.
Nunn said the goal remains to support Iowa farmers, expand market opportunities, and maintain strong national security partnerships abroad.
