Griswold Community Schools Superintendent Dave Henrich shared updates on school funding, the upcoming calendar, and a community fundraiser during a recent interview.
A key highlight is a change in how school funding is handled. While recent budget notices may show an increase in property taxes, Henrich explained those numbers are not accurate.
In reality, the district’s total tax asking is decreasing, with the state now covering about $189,000 that would have previously been paid by local taxpayers.
The district is also beginning discussions on a potential four-day school week, though no changes would happen next school year. A staff survey will be the first step in determining whether to move forward.
Meanwhile, Griswold schools are hosting a basket fundraiser through March 27 to support a student recovering from a heart transplant. Tickets are available in the high school commons.
