Policies and prices at the 10/21/26 meeting of the ROCSD Board of Directors
The board gave second and final approval to Policy 704.3 on investments. Lorenz said the update aligns the district with Iowa School Board Association recommendations that reflect public funds laws and strengthen internal controls. It does not expand investment risk. The district will continue a conservative approach focused on safety, liquidity, transparency, and simplicity.
It approved the first reading of Policy 105 on religious expression and waived further readings so the policy can take effect immediately. The policy, required by legislation passed last session, affirms constitutionally protected prayer and religious expression, along with political and ideological speech.
Adult breakfast prices rise to $4.52, an increase of about 27 cents. Lorenz said the district cannot subsidize adult meals and the Department of Education directed the change to cover full cost and avoid an audit finding.
The talented and gifted program plan was approved with no major changes. It is a required submission to the Department of Education.
