Shenandoah CSD Update: Sign Up for Conferences, Drop Shoes Saturday, and Catch the High School Play in November

Director of Communications Aaron Burdorf spent Wednesday morning on KCSI and KOAK walking families through the next two weeks: high school pictures, parent-teacher conferences next Thursday, and one more chance to drop usable shoes in the high school parking lot this Saturday.

Conferences and picture day

Parent-teacher conferences are Thursday, Oct. 22, one day only, from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. There is no school Friday, Oct. 23. First quarter ends that week.

High school picture day was moved up a day. It is Thursday, Oct. 15, not Friday.

Shoes, Saturday morning

The high school BPA shoe drive, which started at the beginning of the year, is running at least through the end of October. Usable shoes are weighed, the club receives funds, and the shoes go to other countries or to low-income families.

There is a drop-off box outside the high school office. There is also a drive-through Saturday, Oct. 18, from 9 to 11 a.m. in front of the high school office. Burdorf said the club already has about 450 pairs and is trying to double that by the end of the month. Details are on the district Facebook page and in the latest news section of www.shencsd.com.

The high school play, and the musical that just closed

The middle school musical Junie B. Jones finished its two shows this past weekend. Julie Murren directed. She is also directing the high school play, The Elephant’s Graveyard, Nov. 13–15, Friday through Sunday.

It is based on a true story about a circus elephant in Tennessee that is pulled from the circus after something happens in a parade.
